Privacy policy

SuperCharged Wiki (www.superchargedwiki.org) is run by an individual in Australia. This page says what the site collects when you use it, why, and who else sees it. It is written to be read, not skimmed, and it is short because the site collects little.

What the site collects

Server logs. The site is hosted by Vercel. Like any web server, Vercel records each request: the page address, the time, your IP address and your browser's user-agent string. These logs keep the site running and help investigate abuse. Vercel keeps them for a limited time under its own privacy policy.

Page view counts. The site uses Vercel Web Analytics to count page views and visitors and to see which pages and countries they come from. It sets no cookies and does not follow you across other sites. Vercel describes how it works in its analytics privacy notes.

Appearance settings. If you change the text size, page width or colour scheme, the choice is stored in your browser's local storage and never sent to the server. Clearing the site's data in your browser removes it.

Page requests. The request form sends the article title you enter and any note you add (up to 1,000 characters). They are stored in the site's issue tracker on GitHub and read by the site's operator, so GitHub's privacy policy applies to that storage, and they may be shown publicly as a request queue. Do not put personal information in a request. To block automated submissions, the form uses Vercel BotID, which examines signals from your browser during the submission; it is not used to identify you.

Cookies. The site sets no cookies of its own. Google's advertising script, described below, may set its own.

Content loaded from other sites

Images on articles are loaded straight from Wikimedia Commons, so when a page with an image loads, your browser sends a request, including your IP address, to Wikimedia's servers, under the Wikimedia privacy policy. Links to Wikipedia and to the sources an article cites take you to other sites with their own policies.

What the site does not do

There are no accounts and no newsletter. The site does not sell or share visitor data with anyone; the only parties that see it are the providers named on this page, which host and operate the site or, as described below, may serve advertising on it.

Advertising

The site carries Google AdSense's script so that Google can assess it for its advertising programme. No advertisements are shown at the moment; if that changes, this section will say so. When the script loads, Google may set cookies and receive your IP address and information about the pages you view, as described in how Google uses data from sites that use its services. Google and other advertising vendors use cookies to show advertisements based on your earlier visits to this and other sites. You can turn off personalised advertising in Google's ad settings or at aboutads.info.
